3 Monkeys Amps Virgil Head (Black) Review
Based on the BW119 amplifier built for Brad Whitford of Aerosmith in 2006, the 3 Monkeys Virgil amplifier has been scaled back a bit for a more manageable output. Utilizing a power section of 4 x 6V6 power tubes, the 3 Monkeys Virgil has a powerful, 30 watt output that has no problem on stage or in the studio. Featuring a footswitchable Boost control, the Virgil is basically a two channel amplifier with a shared EQ section that allows for fat clean tones to searing leads. The Boost level can be set pre-Master to even the clean and dirty sounds and the USA/UK switch shifts the EQ to produce the scooped sparkle of 60's California sounds to the rich midrange of classic British amplifiers. The first 25 Virgil amplifiers are a numbered, limited edition run.
